E.P Church is a trailblazer in Education – Rt. Rev. Dr. S.S Agidi

The current Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Seth Senyo Agidi has stated that the church is one of the trailblazers in education in Ghana. The EP church has established both public and private schools at all levels of education in Ghana.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Seth Senyo Agidi put forth the facts during the 9th General Assembly of the Church, which was held at the headquarters of the Church in Ho – Volta Region on 22nd and 23rd August 2020.

The E.P. Church has its name cast in gold in the area of health and education as part of its missionary work in Ghana since its inception some 137 years ago.

The church currently has under its name and leadership 300 primary schools, 100 Junior High School, Five (5) Senior High School, Two colleges of Education and a University College.

Evangelical Presbyterian University College, Bimbilla College of Education and Mawuli SHS are just sampled schools at the University, College of education and second cycle school levels.

Speaking at the 9th General Assembly, the moderator who will be succeeded by the newly elected moderator

said the church as a body of Christ has held on to the Christian Education and values which are integral parts of education in Ghana. The church continues to offer education through its institutions in both private and public schools, which instil christian values into learners at all levels of education.

Rt. Rev. Dr. S.S Agidi called on the church not to hold back its efforts. “We must continue to in our quest to nurture the human resource of the nation.: He said.

Education as a medium through which the church reaches out to many across Ghana dates back to the genesis of the EP Church, which is located in nearly all the regions of Ghana.

In 2014, the call on the government of Ghana to return mission schools under its management back to the churches gathered momentum leading to the call from the Christian Council of Ghana signed by the then Signed by General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong.
