The Management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has commenced the marking of the 2021 WASSCE scripts of candidates who sat for the just-ended examination, a staff of the Council has told EducationWeb.com.gh.
Speaking to EducationWeb’s Okyere Darko George, the WAEC official said his outfit usually three weeks after the conduct of the last WASSCE paper starts the marking of the scripts which per our calculation is October 29, 2021.
Explaining how this year’s WASSCE for School scripts will be marked, he said the Council’s chief examiners from the five-member countries will meet and draw a national marking scheme to be used by examiners in various countries.
He said such international prelim coordination meetings are normally held in Greater Accra and Lagos adding that RPCC after the meeting will determine the duration of the marking process and when to expect the release of results.
“The WASSCE papers after the exams are packed into a packet and swapped across the 16 Regions, so whenever you see the packet you will not be able to identify whether is for this or that school, the packets are anonymous,” he stated.
According to him, the non-profit-making organization will report malpractice cases recorded during the conduct of the 2021 WASSCE and those to be detected in the marking of the exams scripts to the Ghana Examinations Committee.
Teachers involved in examination malpractice and misconduct during the administration of the 2021 edition of the international examination he said will also be reported to the Ghana Education Service for administrative sanctions.
The Ghana Examinations Committee he told EducationWeb.com.gh is made of representatives from the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), Ghana Association of Teachers, and other relevant stakeholders.
