In his tweet, the flag bearer of the opposition NDC said
You would have been 76 years today, Prof. Though in eternity, memories of your sterling qualities and principled leadership are still fresh with us. You will forever remain in our hearts. Yours is a soul that cannot be forgotten, a man we cannot celebrate enough!
Happy birthday my comrade, mentor, and friend. Continue to rest well, Sir.
The NDC as a party also added that “On this day, we remember Asomdwehene Prof. John Atta Mills, President of the Republic of Ghana [2009 – July 2012]. He was truly a man of peace.”
Atta Mills at 76 should remind us all of what he stood for and this celebration should not be an empty one but one through which we learn and build a better Ghana for all.
Professor John Evans Atta Mills was known as the man of peace (Asomdwe Hene) when he became the president of Ghana in 2008 after he beat the current president in a fiercely contested election which he won after the second round of voting.
Today in History, on July 21, 1944 (exactly 76 years ago), Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills, a.k.a “Asomdweehene” was Born. He was a Ghanaian politician and legal scholar who served as President of Ghana from 2009 to 2012.
As we mark the birthday of the man of peace (Asomdwe Hene) it is important that we all as Ghanaians emulate him in all respect in our deeds, believes, utterances in our political. public and private lives where ever we may find ourselves and hold on to the good virtues of Prof. John Atta Mills.
This is the best we can do for ourselves and posterity to give him a befitting birthday wish even as he rests from his hard work.
