Ex-president Jerry John Rawlings Congratulates Naana Opoku -Agyemang

Weeks ago we woke up to the news of the selection of the Running mate for the National Democratic Party (NDC) which the presidential hopeful John Dramani Mahama announced Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate during the NDC Rally weeks ago said Professor Opoku -Agyemang was more than qualified for the appointment of becoming the first female vice-president candidate for the opposition party who are hoping to clinch victory during this year’s democratic election which comes off on 7th December.

Former President John Mahama during his introduction of his running mate said Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemangwas more than qualified siting her past achievements which include her appointment as the first female vice-chancellor of a Ghanaian university and her immense contribution to the educational sector during her tenure as a minister during the past government.

In light of this, a courtesy call was made to the former president and founder of the party on Thursday to introduce the vice presidential candidate to the noble founder.

In the wise words of the former president and founder he urged Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang not to deviate from her principles of integrity, he also urged Ghanaians to go out to register for a new voters identification card which then gives you the power to exercise your civic right during the 7th December presidential and parliamentary elections, he also cautioned the various political parties to desist from activities that will create unrest in the country as Ghana has over the years been a Beacon of hope for the various countries in the Sub-Region when it comes to the Manner we as a people conduct ourselves during the election and the Peace we are all experiencing in the nation.

During the meeting the former president said prior to the announcement, he was informed by the party’s presidential candidate, former President John Mahama was the favorite among a list of the shortlisted candidate and although he Jerry Rawlings had a few others in mind but if John Mahama has selected his running mate there was no reason to stand against it but has urged her to be focused and pushed the parties narrative.

Some party executives who were among the delegation to the meeting with the founder’s of the party included General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia also known as (general mosquito) who accompanied the party chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Kofi Attoh, party Vice Chairman to the meeting and they all attested to the fact that Professor Naana Opoku Agyemang was a very good choice and that come 7th December victory awaits the national democratic congress.

General Mosquito as he is popularly known said during the call to the Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings also said that the candidate was outstanding and he was confident the party will win the upcoming elections and he also added that the selection of professor Opoku Agyemang goes to prove the parties intention on the stands for the promotion of youth and women empowerment.
