December 7th, 2024 Election is Between Ghana and NPP – Mahama
As we await the December 7th,2024 election to choose a new president, the leader of the opposition John Dramani Mahama has said we know the problems of trainee nurses, and that is why when we were in government we substituted nursing trainee allowances with the student loan.
The main opposition leader, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Former President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to vote for him and the NDC in this year’s general elections on December 7th.
He says a vote for him on the December 7th, 2024 election and the NDC would ensure the needed development that Ghanaians need is achieved.
To him, the coming election is between Ghana and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and the choice of making decisions needs to be wise.
Mr Mahama said this while assuring trainee nurses that his administration would prioritise job creation within the healthcare sector.
He stated during the meeting: “What is important for you is not the allowances, it is to get the jobs when you finish school. But somebody came and said he would pay the allowances. Unfortunately, it was 419. When he went to Techiman, it took a small young trainee nurse like you to say that you promised to pay us our allowances. I entered nursing training three years ago, I’m in my final year and for the three years I’ve been in school I have not received even allowance one.”

When I come, to the agenda 111 hospitals they are building, I’ll continue and finish them so that we can create more space to able to absorb all of you when you finish school.
Mr Mahama said an NDC government is committed to jobs and will create a situation where as many nurses as possible can be employed immediately after they finish school.
Mr Mahama said this would ensure that nurses and other healthcare workers have stable and rewarding careers.
Addressing some trainee nurses on Saturday, he said “We know the problems with trainee nurses and that is why when we were in government, we said we were going to substitute your allowance with the students’ loan because we wanted to create more employment for you. What is important for you is not the allowance it is to get a job when you finish school,”
