Continue the rotation of independence parade -Gov’t urged
Continue the rotation of the independence parade across Ghana to give every region a feel of what it was like some 63 years ago when Ghana gained independence.
This is the humble request coming from the citizens of Ghana after the government’s decision to rotate the celebration which had the first of its kind in Tamale in 2019 and the 2020 edition in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
At the 63rd independence celebration held in the Ashanti Region, the rich culture of the Ashanti’s was on display as rich novel Kente cloth, dresses, food, and colourful dances were exhibited on the day. Chiefs and traditional leaders and the local people who wouldn’t have gotten the opportunity if the event had remained in Accra came out in their numbers to celebrate.

Ghanaians are therefore calling on government and successive governments to ensure the new system is encouraged and used.
With the rotation of the independence parade, every region would get the chance to host the entire nation for each of the celebrations. One request from Ghanaians is that the hosting regions should be announced before the end of the year to help ensure that, the new approach gives every region enough notice ahead of the celebration just like the world cup hosting countries are known several years to the event.
One key personality who has added his voice to the call is Kweku Baako, the Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide. according to him, “the rotation of the independence day parade must continue irrespective of the government in power.”
The first celebration till the 61st have all been held in Accra the capital of Ghana until 2019 when the President of Ghana, Nana Addo changed the trend.
