Chemu SHS Wins Tema Metro Science and Maths Quiz

The Tema Metro Education Directorate’s Science and Math Quiz, a warm-up for the National Maths and Science Quiz, was won by Chemu Senior High School. Chemu SHS has won the Tema metro Science and Maths quiz and will be heading to 2023 NSMQ as favorites.
Chemu, the defending champions, defeated Our Lady of Mercy Senior High (OLAMS) and Tema Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC), who came in second and third, respectively, with 20 points to keep the trophy.
The Education Directorate partnered with the Tema Metropolitan Assembly to organize the second Metro Maths and Science Quiz for senior high schools in Tema, Greater Accra Region.
During the quiz’s grand finale at the Tema-PRESEC Hall, Mrs. Bernice Ofori, the Tema Metro Director of Education, announced the annual organization of the quiz at all education levels.
This will enhance the teaching and learning of science and mathematics in schools and encourage scientific and mathematical thought.
Urge teachers to demystify math and science, alleviate students’ concerns through effective teaching techniques.
The quiz mistress, Mrs. Rachel Annoh, urged all participating schools to take advantage of the occasion to promote constructive academic competition among senior high schools.
She claimed that the contestants could enhance their capacity for critical, imaginative, and pressure-free thinking, which would boost their confidence.
The activity aimed to prepare students for the 2023 National Science and Math Quiz and improve their performance in the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
Tema-PRESEC, OLAMS, and Chemu Senior High received plaques and prizes in recognition of their efforts.Tema Manhean SHS, Methodist Senior School, and others didn’t make it to the final three of the quiz.
