He wrote, “Dear colleagues and friends, just to inform you that I’m finally home reunited with my family after almost three months incarceration at BNI, Ministries Police cells and the IGP’s custody”.
He called it a world of experience, adding “I like to thank God for bringing me this far”. On his list of gratitude are his council, Martin Kpebu and the legal team, his wife, family and the Chiefs, Elders, and people of Vakpo in the Volta Region, where he hails from. It will be recalled that Chief and the people of Vakpo kept pleading with the government and the police service for his release.
They said he could not have planned to destabilize the government and that they could vouch for his innocence. At a Press Conference held on Saturday, January 4, at a community centre in the town, the Chief of Vakpo Todzi, Togbe Awuro V, spoke on behalf of the Chiefs and people of the area and called on the court to grant the Officer’s bail to enable him live his life without any restrictions while investigation continues.

The ACP said he knew that there were people who have not seen him before yet “believed that I couldn’t have done what I was being accused of. These sentiments were expressed in various social media platforms”. He reiterated his strong belief in democratic values such as rule of law, human rights and constitutional rule. “These are the things that drive passion in me”, he added.
He also mentioned his innocence and unflinching support for Ghana’s democratic development.
“Having spent six years in Sudan, Somalia and Haiti and witnessed how conflicts have ravaged those countries, I will be the last person to do anything to derail the strides we’ve made in democratic development”, he said. “Be assured that I love my country so dearly that I can never ever do anything to disturb the relative peace we enjoy in Ghana”, he added.

According to his lawyer, Martin Kpebu, his client’s arrest was an act of witch hunting.
According to him his client made a famous presentation at IDEG where he bemoaned the political interference in the Police Service and that may have offended government and contributed to his arrest.
“This was a man who a few months ago did a brilliant presentation at IDEG. He only said that the police service is no independent so they want the police service to be made independent. So that they can execute their duties professionally. The things he said, were obvious. It was no brainer.”
According to Mr. Kpebu, the hierarchy of the police service advanced a similar argument when they appeared before the constitutional review commission.
