Northern Regional House of Chiefs hails Bawumia for development in the Northern Region
The Northern Regional House of Chiefs,Ya-Na has expressed gratitude to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration for the many development initiatives the region has seen since the present administration took office.
Dr. Bawumia who is the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for this year’s election is currently in the Northern Region as part of his nationwide meetings with key stakeholders, including traditional chiefs.
Ya-Na Abukari II, the president of the Northern Regional House of Chiefs, welcomed Dr. Bawumia to the region during his meeting with the group on Thursday. He also expressed gratitude for the NPP government’s efforts in implementing what he called “monumental” development projects. He also praised Dr. Bawumia’s assistance and efforts to the advancement of the region.
“We feel and appreciate the impact your government has made in the last seven years of good governance, working to improve the living conditions of our people,” said Ya-Na in a speech read on his behalf.
“We value your efforts, notably the peace and monumental projects in the region,” added Ya-Na, who then listed some of the projects.
“Of note are the state-of-the-art sports stadium in our present locality, the ongoing construction of a multi-purpose sports center for the gallant men and women of the Ghana Armed Forces, the Tamale International Airport, and the interchange in our regional capital, among many others.”
The Ya-Na went on to say that the government’s development initiatives in the Northern Region had helped the youth by creating opportunities for them.
“These projects have provided employment for many youths, alleviated hardships for several families, and contributed to reducing youth unemployment in the country,” he noted.
Ya-Na expressed gratitude for the government and the Vice President, but he also raised some concerns and urged Dr. Bawumia to push through projects like the Tamale and Yendi Water Supply projects more quickly.
The Ya-Na spoke on behalf of the Northern Regional House of Chiefs and officially congratulated Dr. Bawumia on his victory as the NPP flagbearer and wished him luck in his quest to become the nation’s next president.
