Show proof of youth-centered policy implemented -Nana B to NDC
The NDC has been handed a one-week grade period to produce evidence of a youth-centered policy that it implemented while in government to the people of Ghana.
The call was made by the youth wing of the NPP who believe that the NDC did nothing for the teeming youth of Ghana over its 8-year rule 2008-2016.
The National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye, known as Nana B, threw the challenge to the opposition National Democratic Congress at the latest the “Youth Must Know Series’ which was organized in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region.
According to Nana B, the NDC led by John Dramani Mahama led a country in which the future of the youth was not guaranteed. He added that the NPP led administration has demonstrated it had the youth at heart and instituted youth-centered policies to reverse the poor trend of the NDC.
He said should the NDC youth win fail to respond appropriately, the followers of the NDC would have no moral justification to ask voters to vote for them in the upcoming election in December.
Nana B further reiterated that the ruling NPP government has performed creditably in youth-centered policies which have also improved on the lives of the people for which reason Ghanaians must maintain the NPP to continue its good works.
He was of the view that, to find a youth-centered policy implemented by the NDC will be a nightmare for the NDC communication team. According to him, the NDC failed woefully to introduce youth-focused policies during its eight years in political office.
“This NPP government has performed better than any other the government in the 4th Republic when it comes to the implementation of policies that have far-reaching benefits in the lives of the youth. The sterling performance of President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia is evident in the lives of Ghanaian youth,” he said.
He said the youth of Ghana have enjoyed positive social interventions by the Nana Addo-Bawumia led government of the NPP and would show their gratitude by retaining the NPP in power come December 2020. Nana B added that this was necessary to ensure the current NPP government continued its good works for the youth of Ghana.
He identified the following as interventions for the youth.
Free Senior High school (SHS) policy which has seen increased enrolment and scrapping for fees to make education accessible to all.
One District, One Factory and NABCO aimed at creating jobs for the teeming graduates of Ghana.
Financial support for 1,000 athletes through the YEA during this COVID-19 pandemic with the help of Ghana Football Association and other sports federation.
Recruitment of teachers and non-teaching staff into the Ghana Education Service
Recruitment of nurses and security personnel among others.
In his own words
“The youth of Ghana is grateful to President Akufo-Addo for his visionary leadership and come December 7, 2020, we will vote massively to give the NPP and President Akufo-Addo four more years to do more for us,”
Haven made these assertions; he took on the NDC and accused them for lying that he visited Senior High School campuses to the campaign.
According to the Youth Organizer of the NPP, his visit was only to monitor the ongoing voter registration in the various schools.
He said under the NDC, especially the Mahama-led administration, there was no future for the youth, but the current Akufo-Addo administration came to reverse the trend and had given hope to the youth through many laudable policies.
Nana B stated that if the NDC youth wing and communications outfit failed to come out with their party’s youth-focused policies when they were in government, then members of the NDC would not have any moral right to campaign for votes from the youth in the run-up to the December polls.
He said the current NPP administration had performed better regarding policies to improve the lives of the youth so it should be maintained in office.
Nana B taunted that the NDC youth wing would struggle to meet his challenge, indicating that the NDC failed woefully to introduce youth-focused policies when it mismanaged the state of affairs during its eight years in political office.
In his view, President Akufo-Addo is a visionary leader and Ghanaians will appreciate his work and vote for him come December 7, 2020.
Will the NDC respond to the youth-centered policy challenge? Only time will tell.
