President Akufo-Addo assures peace and progress in Ghana before and after 2024 election
President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reassured Ghanaians that his government is ever committed to upholding the nation’s remarkable democratic credentials and territorial integrity prior to, during, and beyond the general election scheduled for December 7.
The president said that Ghana is now known throughout the West African Sub-region as the pinnacle of democracy and peace, making her a magnet for foreign investment and a source of stability.
As President of the Republic of Ghana, he pledged that the nation will not allow years of socioeconomic and democratic progress to be undermined by political unrest.

Speaking on Saturday at the great durbar of the Chiefs and people of Effutu (Winneba) in the Central Region to culminate the yearly Aboakyer Festival, President Akufo-Addo urged everyone to avoid actions that would jeopardize national peace.
“Promoting Tradition and Development through Aboakyer Celebration” was the subject of the week-long celebration.
On Saturday, April 27, the celebrations got underway with a regatta/tug-of-war, marathon races, a health walk, a musical performance, and clean-up projects in homes and towns.
“Let’s contribute our quota for a peaceful and successful election to protect our democracy,” stated President Akufo-Addo, adding that elections were not a political arena for fighting.
“The world awaits the outcome and events leading to, during and after the December 7 polls, as a result, all must show political maturity and carry out routine works in peace to prove to the world that Ghana is a peaceful country,” he said.
In his address, the President introduced Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the New Patriotic Party’s candidate for flagbearer. He also urged the populace to cast a sizable ballot in favor of him and the NPP lawmakers.
“The party had undertaken huge development projects across the country, and deserved to be maintained, he added.
President Akufo-Addo congratulated the Effutu chiefs and people for upholding the tradition that their predecessors had left for them. He also advised them to embrace social cohesion and tolerance and go forward as a united group to spur growth.
Effutu Traditional Area’s Neenyi Ghartey VII, Omanhen, praised the President for building a fish landing facility in the region, which has greatly improved the fishing community’s operations.
When the Kasoa-Winneba Road was rebuilt as a double carriageway, he added, the people of Effutu were also enthusiastic about it and voiced the hope that it would lessen traffic fatalities and facilitate the flow of goods and services.
Nevertheless, he made a plea to the government to rebuild the Winneba Market Complex into a contemporary establishment, since the previous market was unable to accommodate the growing number of vendors.
“Your presence shows that there is peace amongst us,” Neenyi Ghartey said in response to Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ahor Ankobea II, Omanhen of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, and Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, Omanhen of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, for joining them in celebrating the Aboakyer for the first time.

The Effutu Member of Parliament, Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, stated that the government had implemented significant initiatives in the region to improve the lot of the people.
These include the development of a Children’s Hospital, a factory, new senior high school buildings, and a cutting-edge information and communication technology center.
He promised to encourage and strive for everyone, irrespective of their ethnicity or political affiliation.
