Parliamentary Candidate, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey to provide free sewing training for over 600 youth in his constituency
Over 600 unemployed youth will receive free sewing training, according to Mr. Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle constituency.
Speaking at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Hall to a gathering of over 150 tailors and dressmakers, Mr. Nortey emphasized the value of providing apprenticeship chances to young people without jobs.
He emphasized that the “Nii Noi Nortey Foundation” has already recruited these young people and is prepared to start training them right away, pointing out the urgent need to lower unemployment and support local business.
Mr. Nortey went into further detail on the importance of helping Klottey Korle’s driven but jobless youngsters, pointing out that many have shown an interest in taking dressmaking classes.
He underlined the benefits of this kind of training, saying it can reduce stress and give unemployed people a sense of purpose and optimism. If prompt action is not done, he warned of possible negative effects for people as well as society.
In addition, Mr. Nortey suggested cutting the three-year training period to six months in response to dressmakers’ worries. He promised to mediate negotiations between trainees and dressmakers so that an agreement could be reached over the duration of training.
In an effort to recognize and value their contributions to the Klottey Korle constituency, Nortey also organized meetings with employees from a variety of informal industries, including barbers, beauticians, and hairdressers.
At the meeting, Mr. James Nii Agyei Tawiah, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Klottey Korle seat, also expressed sympathy and gave attendees assurances that the municipality will continue to promote the informal business sector under its jurisdiction.
