NDC’s Emergency Meeting with EC on Voters’ Register Exhibition Exercise
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for an emergency meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) regarding the Voters’ Register Exhibition Exercise.
This meeting aims to address significant discrepancies identified during the ongoing 2024 voter exhibition exercise, according to the main opposition party.
In a statement signed by General Secretary Fifi Kwetey, it was noted that these discrepancies arise from an analysis of the Provisional Voter Register (PVR) provided by the Commission, as well as the registers currently being displayed at the centres.
“We extend our greetings from the NDC Party Headquarters in Accra and hope this letter finds you in good health.
“We are writing to request an urgent emergency meeting with you and your team to discuss serious discrepancies that have come to light during the ongoing 2024 voter exhibition exercise. These discrepancies stem from our analysis of the Provisional Voter Register (PVR) supplied by the Commission, along with the registers being exhibited at the centres.
“We anticipate a favourable and timely response as we work towards free, fair and transparent elections,” the statement said.
The Electoral Commission (EC) launched a voters’ exhibition exercise on the 20th of August, 2024, running until today Tuesday, August 27, to allow voters to check their details in the register ahead of the December 7 general election.
This week-long event will take place daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., including weekends, and is open to all registered voters.
“The exhibition exercise aims to give prospective voters the chance to verify their details—such as name, sex, and age—as recorded during the registration process, and to request any necessary amendments or additions,” said Mr Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairperson of the EC in charge of Operations, in an interview with the Daily Graphic.

The Context of voters’ exhibition exercise
Initially, the EC had scheduled the exhibition exercise for August 1 to 7, 2024, but it was postponed due to a mop-up limited registration exercise that occurred from August 1 to August 3, 2024.
Earlier, the EC conducted a limited voters’ registration from May 7 to May 27, 2024, which was extended by two days to address network issues encountered during the first two days of the registration.
Details on voters’ exhibition exercise
Mr Tettey elaborated that the exhibition exercise would allow prospective voters to request the inclusion of omitted names, correct voter details, and challenge the names of unqualified voters on the register.
He added that this exercise would also help voters identify their polling stations for election day and facilitate the removal of deceased voters’ names from the register.
“This is aimed at ensuring the register is accurate, free from minors, foreigners, deceased individuals, and other clerical errors, in preparation for the December 7 general election,” he explained.
