NAPO Fires Back at Mahama: You’d Be Behind Bars By Now – NAPO
NAPO Fires Back at Mahama: If Prof. Mills Were Haunted, You’d Be Behind Bars by Now. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party, commonly referred to as NAPO, has sharply criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, for his remark suggesting that “if Nkrumah had a ghost, he would have knocked down NAPO.”
During a campaign event in Adugyama, located in the Ahafo Ano South East constituency of the Ashanti Region, Dr Prempeh retorted, “If Mills had a ghost, John Mahama would be in jail by now, NAPO Fires Back at Mahama” which drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Currently on a comprehensive tour of the Ashanti Region, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is promoting the NPP’s vision of “Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future,” while also highlighting the poor performance of the Mahama administration.
He stated, “We had a President John Mahama who allowed Ghanaians to endure four years of darkness, yet he believes we have forgotten this legacy.”
Moreover, he emphasized that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is the most capable leader in protecting the achievements of initiatives like the Free Senior High School program.

Dr Opoku Prempeh plans to visit all 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region as the party aims to galvanize support for a strong turnout on election day.
Opoku Prempeh retorted, “If the ghost of President Mills existed, John Mahama would be in jail instead of seeking another term in office.”
While touting the achievements of the NPP government, Dr. Opoku Prempeh added that John Mahama failed in his capacity as Vice President and President making him unqualified to be president again.
He encouraged voters to assess the performance of his government to renew its term in office.
He made these comments during a campaign tour in the Ahafo Ano South East Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
The newly revealed running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is elevating President Akufo-Addo to an esteemed position. Dr. Opoku Prempeh asserted that no other president has contributed to the nation’s development as significantly as President Akufo-Addo. He even suggested that Ghana’s inaugural president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, achieved less during his time in office compared to the accomplishments of President Akufo-Addo.
During his unveiling ceremony in Kumasi on Tuesday, he remarked, “From the time of our independence in 1957 to the present, no president has contributed to Ghana’s progress like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I stand by my statement that since 1957, even if you consider Kwame Nkrumah, there has been no leader who has safeguarded Ghana and advanced the nation as much as Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has.”
However, after a month of ongoing discussions surrounding these comments, John Mahama, the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has aimed at Dr Prempeh, labelling him as arrogant. During a community event in the Adaklu Constituency of the Volta Region, Mr. Mahama expressed his disapproval of Dr. Prempeh’s statements, deeming them inappropriate and disrespectful to the memory of the late president.
“He can’t hide his arrogance. I was just watching the video yesterday, and he was talking about the past president.
“He said Rawlings, and he said Kufuor, and somehow he even forgot Professor Mills’s name, and then he said, “That one who died”. I mean, how can you talk like this? Very disrespectful, very insulting. Arrogance is like pregnancy. Whatever you do, it will come out,” he said.

During the introduction of the NPP’s running mate to Otumfuo, the king remarked, “We raised you as part of the Manhyia Palace, and we believe we did a good job. However, we’ve heard whispers of your arrogance.”
He continued, “We hope you can prove those critics wrong.” Yet, just a few hours later, the running mate commented about “your Kwame Nkrumah,” which was deemed highly disrespectful towards the nation’s founder, especially considering he had passed away.
The former president expressed, “You can insult me, and I can defend myself because I am alive, but in our culture, we do not speak ill of the deceased. It is a sign of disrespect to speak negatively about those who can no longer respond.”
