Presenting the items to the constituencies at the party’s regional office in Ho Friday, July 24th, 2020 the party’s Regional Chairman, Henry Ametepe noted that the logistics have come in handy and would be of significant support towards the Voter registration and election activities of the party
He said, “I am presenting these items to you on behalf of our flag bearer, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. These items have come at a time that we needed them most and would be of a significant support for party activities in the various constituencies.”
Mr. Ametepe however, cautioned that the bikes remain the sole property of the party and thus must be used for the purpose for which they have been procured.
“The bikes are branded with the party colours and what it means is that they remain the sole property of the NDC and must be used for the purpose for which they have been procured. We would not tolerate the diversion of these items into personal properties where some persons would become the owners. Use them and use them for the 2020 elections and its activities,” he cautioned.
The party’s Regional Secretary, Mr. James Gunu also told journalists that the donation of the motorbikes is to facilitate door-to-door campaigns in the various constituencies since the Covid-19 pandemic would not allow for political rallies.
He said, “The motorbikes are supposed to facilitate the party work on the ground. That means that our people (campaigners) have to get closer to the doorsteps of the people. Because of the COVID-19, we are not going to have big rallies in the constituencies, definitely, we need to get our messages closer to the people at the grassroots.”
He further indicated that the laptops will also facilitate the party’s election directorates, their campaign and updates on ongoing Voter registration, election activities since information technology (IT) is crucial in collating election results.
“We are in an information technology world, so we need to be abreast with the global trend, we need to be able to collate our results and we need to be able to get the information on the ground as far as the results collation is concerned,” he indicated.
The party’s leadership in the region has also served notice that it will leave no stone unturned in its bid to secure victory for the party in the 2020 polls.
