Dismissal of Godfred Dame Yeboah – NDC to Prez Akuffo-Addo
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has demanded immediate and unequivocal resignation or dismissal of Godfred Dame Yeboah as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice.
According to the party, President Akufo-Addo should call for the dismissal of Godfred Dame Yeboah and prosecute him as well.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the party’s National Chairman, made the demand at the party’s Moment of Truth series, which took place on Tuesday, May 28 at its headquarters.

This follows claims made against the A-G in open court on Thursday, May 23, by the third accused, Richard Jakpa, who chastised Mr Dame for his persistent efforts to help him implicate the first accused, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, in the ambulance purchase trial.

Addressing the press, Mr Nketia presented an audio tape purporting to be a phone conversation between the Attorney-General and Richard Jakpa.
Excerpts of the tape show the Attorney-General’s yet-to-be validated voice requesting that Mr Jakpa seek a medical reason to skip court sessions pending his return to the country.

“Considering the scandalous nature of this recording and other forms of evidence we have shown you, we wish to make the following pressing demands as part of efforts to restore credibility to the Attorney-General’s office and Ghana’s judicial system as a whole.
Call for dismissal of Godfred Dame Yeboah
“The immediate and unconditional resignation or dismissal of Godfred Dame for bringing the high office of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice into disrepute and public opprobrium. Clearly, Mr. Dame is not fit to hold himself out as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. He is unfit to be the leader of the Ghanaian Bar,” Mr Asiedu Nketia said.
In addition, the NDC is requesting a disciplinary investigation by the General Legal Council into the A-G’s conduct on the video, as well as “his disbarment.”
“The immediate prosecution and dismissal of Godfred Dame Yeboah for multiple violations of the laws of Ghana. We wish to make it clear that should President Akufo-Addo fail to prosecute him, a future NDC government will prosecute Godfred Dame for this heinous crime of fabrication of evidence.
“Commencement of disciplinary proceedings by the General Legal Council against Godfred Dame and his disbarment for conduct unbecoming of a lawyer and more importantly the leader of the Ghana Bar.”
