Alleged audio recording : Attorney General will not resign – NPP
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has defended Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Godfred Dame Yeboah, declaring that Mr. Dame will not quit in response to the alleged audio recording published by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to the NPP, the alleged audio recording between Mr. Dame and the third accused person, Richard Jakpa, in the ambulance purchase trial is the latest attempt to persuade the A-G to drop the prosecution of Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

During court proceedings on Thursday, May 23, 2024, Mr Jakpa said that the Attorney-General had repeatedly approached him to assist him in implicating Dr. Ato Forson in his evidence.
“The A-G (Mr Dame) has on several occasions engaged me at odd hours to help him make a case against A1 [Ato Forson] and I have evidence for that.. If he pushes me, I will open the Pandora’s box. I don’t understand why the A-G will accuse me of defending A1 [Ato Forson] when I’m here to defend myself,” Jakpa fumed in open court.
In a counter-press conference in response to the NDC on Tuesday, May 28, the party’s Chairman of the Legal and Constitutional Committee, Frank Davies, assured the press that the A-G is committed and determined to prosecute the case.
“The latest allegation by Richard Jakpa, the 3rd accused and an associate of Cassiel Ato Forson in this botched Ambulance procurement transaction, is therefore only a further ploy, contrived to curtail the prosecution of Ato Forson and smear the Attorney-General’s integrity and reputation.
“But this would also not see the light of day as we believe firmly that public officials, regardless of social standing must be equally accountable for their use of public resources. Needless to say that the law is no respecter of persons.”
“Ladies and Gentlemen, if it is the firm belief of the NDC and Ato Forson that no loss had occasioned the state from his conduct, then they should remain faithful to our judicial system and cease these malicious orchestrations targeted at bastardising our judicial system prevent him from standing trial to conclusion.”
No resignation after the alleged audio recording
Furthermore, the NPP stated that requests for the Attorney General’s resignation are “misplaced, unwarranted, and would not have any impact on the prosecution of Cassiel Ato Forson and his associates.”
“Also, coming from the NDC the call for the Attorney General, Mr Dame to resign is very very rich.
The AG would not resign and would continue to remain witty, resolute and focused in the delivery of his work,” Frank Davies emphasised.
