2024 Election Calendar Dates Released by Electoral Commission
The 2024 election calendar for Ghana has been released by the Electoral Commission of Ghana ahead of the March 7th IPAC meeting. All stakeholders, especially the various political parties, are expected to have up to three representatives at the meeting.
The details to be agreed on at the IPAC meeting are expected to be made public after the meeting.
To set the stage for the much-anticipated political battle later in 2024, the EC stated that it will begin collecting nominations from candidates for president and parliament from September 9 to 13, 2024.
Candidates for president will be eligible to cast ballots on September 23, 2024, following the nomination process. Candidates for parliament will be able to do the same on September 24, 2024.
From May 7th until the 27th, 2024, one of the main events will be a voter registration drive. An exhaustive public education campaign will begin on April 1 and last for 56 days to inform and prepare the electorate for the registration process, which is a critical step before this.
In addition, starting May 30, 2024, the Electoral Commission will replace all lost voter IDs across the country. From July 9–18, 2024, political parties will presumably get the provisional voters’ register. From July 15–24, 2024, the public will be able to view the voters’ register.
The political parties are expected to get the final voter registration list between the end of August and the beginning of September.
Meetings and the “Let the Citizen Know” series are other ways the EC plans to interact with stakeholders in an effort to promote an open, honest, and inclusive voting process.
Through these interactions, the political parties and the electorate want to dispel any distrust and create trust.
On December 2, 2024, there will be a special voting session for the security agencies and accredited media practitioners who will be responsible for certain tasks on December 7, 2024, the day of the general election.
The pledge to a maximum of three days for the presidential results highlights the EC’s commitment to efficiency and openness, even though the EC is not legally obligated to announce election results within a specified timetable.

The announcement of results at the regional level will still be heavily reliant on regional collation centres, which will help to further simplify the voting process.
The EC’s dedication to ensuring a smooth election process is seen by its carefully prepared timetable.
