Technical Challenge Greets New Voters’ ID Card Piloted Registration Exercise
The EC has commenced a pilot registration exercise of the new voters’ ID card which will aid in the compilation of a new voters register.
However, the information we have gathered from 3news.com is that persons participating in the piloted registration exercise by the Electoral Commission in Tamale have challenges completing the process.
The challenge has to do with persons who want other Ghanaians to vouch for their nationality as Ghanaians.
Lucas Yiryeli, the Northern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission has indicated in an interview with journalists that the difficulty relates to the difficulty in accessing the software that is to process data collected.
“It is a technical challenge we are facing here and it has to do with a software which we have communicated to our superiors in Accra.” He said.
The nationwide new voters’ registration aimed at compiling a new credible register by the Electoral Commission is being held nationwide and will end on Wednesday, June 3rd.

The new voters’ ID card registration is officially scheduled to begin before the end of June however this pilot registration exercise will afford the Electoral Commission the opportunity to identify potential challenges and deal with them ahead of the mass registration.
