Poor Educational System to affect Ghana’s Human Capital. A report from World Bank
Writer;Riyadh Olarf Mohammed Abdallah
Our Educational system has only been a pass through for us all, and there is a witness to attest to this fact, digging a rectangular hole to fix in to it a round file tells a lot about the system.Reports surfacing says the poor system will affect human capital.
According to the reports, About 56 per cent of Ghana’s human capital will go waste in the next 18 years because of the poor quality of the country’s education system, the latest Human Capital Index (HCI) report by the World Bank has revealed.
The report made a stunning revelation that only 44 per cent of children born in the country today will become productive when they grow up.
The HCI, which measures the amount of capital that a child born in the country today can expect to attain by age 18, stated that the poor quality of education would translate into lack of capacity to support sustainable national development.
The report, which was made public by the World Bank Ghana Office in Accra yesterday, ranked Ghana 116th out of 157 countries which is worrying and am pointing out to the fact that Free Education has been one of the many factors contributing to this poor performance.
Don’t get me wrong, when I say Free Education is one of the many factors, but let us analyse a few things here.
The free education is good but it’s implementation is untimely hence the preparation was poor, looking into how the system works, you wouldn’t believe it and trust me if no measures are taking now to rectify this colour badge thing the outcome will most definitely be worst than world Banks report.
And I suggest we need to be more Technical oriented than theory,I listened to Mr Stephen Atobiga and he was just classic on hid delivery on Metro TV’s Good evening Ghana, suggesting we should instill the technical education in the system and that will save us money.
When I here folks I mean political leaders say Free Education is it all and makes it look like it a heaven on earth then I wonder our direction.
We can change the whole percentage if there are good measures before implementation of a policy,They are clear difference between a policy,it’s implementation and how good it will work to help our dear motherland Ghana.
Yes we can,Let’s do it.
