“I won’t serve on 40 member committee” – Benjamin Kpodo
The Member of Parliament for Ho Central Constituency and a member of Parliament’s Finance Committee, Honourable Benjamin Komla Kpodo has declined membership of the Forty Member Committee set up by the government to deliberate on the free fall of the cedi.

According to him, he would have loved to help in helping the situation yet the government’s demeanor on the issue is not encouraging.
He said this in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital this Saturday, during a press soirée organized by the regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The press soirée was intended to address pressmen and women on the NDC’s view of the nation’s current direction which they described as dangerous.
He is of the view that the setting up of the 40 member committee is a clear indication that the cedi is out of control. He went on to jab the touted economic prowess of the Vice President, Dr Bawumia saying, “I thought he once arrested the cedi and gave the keys to the IGP. Or has the cedi broken jail?”.
He said before the NDC left power, the cedi was “Ghc3,92 pesewas to $1, today it is Ghc5.74 pesewas, now when you add up this figures or subtract you paid Ghc1,82 pesewas, so from that day that the government took over to today, you need to add Ghc1,82 pesewas in order to get $1”.

He also mentioned that he was not consulted on his addition to the committee. “ Not even the courtesy of a call came through to inform me of my membership of this committee”, he said. He went on to remind Ghanaians there was a time during the NDC’s regime, the NPP, then in opposition, refused an invitation to come to Akosombo for deliberations on the economy of the nation, adding, “they said they had the men and will solve the country’s economic problems without anyone’s help if they won the elections”.
He used the opportunity to turn on the regional minister saying “the current administration of the Volta Region was the worst ever in my opinion. Even Dzamesi was better”.

He questioned why both the regional minister and his deputy will be appointed from Ho Central when there are other parts of the region they could have taken equally good people from. This, he said, is an imbalanced government.
He ended his submission by asking the Regional Minister and his deputy to solve the water problems facing Ho and not just pay lip service, making promises upon promises and delivering on none. Adding his voice, the Member of Parliament for Ho West Constituency, Honourable Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzra said he strongly believes it is a clear waste of time and a mere indication that the government lacks the competence to manage the country’s economy, calling them useless.
He said, ” Ghanaians have seen that the NPP is the most useless government Ghana has ever had, not only corrupt but useless, they don’t have any clue. How can you now form a committee to be chasing the dollar? It means you don’t have any clue how to run this government”.
He asked journalists in the region to be fair, truthful and professional in covering political stories this year.
